Domain Name Parking
Companies or individuals sometimes want to register and reserve a domain
name before it is registered by someone else. Therefore, a domain name can be
registered with InterNIC even if you don't have a need for it yet. Maybe you don't yet want a web site, don't want to
spend the money to create one, and don't need any email under that name.
So, you "park" it. Later when you want a web site and/or e-mail
associated with the domain name then you upgrade your account at that time.
The concept of domain name parking is fairly simple. They are domains names that are registered with the InterNIC (and therefore reserved), but are not active for website or e-commerce service. InterNIC (the governing Internet body) still requires EVERY domain name point to at least two domain name servers (DNS) even if no web site is present.
We will "park" a domain name on our servers for much less cost than that of a website. We still have to assign an IP address to the domain which uses some of our resources. There are other companies that may charge any price from free to $20 a month. Obviously $20 a month does not make any sense because you can have a whole package for that price. Most of the free ones have a gimmick attached, such as high registration fees or other hidden costs. We provide this feature simply as a service to our clients and charge a nominal fee to cover costs.
